Urushi lacquer

The photo shows the technique of "Chin-kin 沈金(Urushi lacquered gold)". Gold leaf is submerged in Urushi lacquer漆. The urushi lacquer is the plant lacquer peculiar to Japan and the oldest one of 10,000 years ago has been excavated. Japan has a unique tableware art since ancient times.
